Masurian house with soul

Masurian house with soul

A place that breathes tranquility. A house that restores the meaning of the word “return”.

Mazury
220 m2

A house has been created in the heart of Masuria, where the timeless peace of nature meets manual labor and respect for tradition. It's a place where every detail — from the limestone fireplace to the oak woodwork — tells its own story.

A century-old house in Masuria, where history meets contemporary comfort.

The original structure, once enlarged with respect for Masurian architecture, became the foundation of the new arrangement. The house from the doorstep envelops with tranquility - this is where the story begins about a place where tradition smoothly merges with modern, conscious life.

In one of the most charming parts of Masuria, in the middle of an old stand and a garden full of hydrangeas, stood a house whose character has matured for more than a century. Our task was to give it a fresh energy while maintaining an authentic character: raw brick, bleached wood and closeness to nature.

The opening of the historic entrance and the old divisions made it possible to combine these zones into a coherent sequence of rooms full of natural light. It was this gesture - enlarging and illuminating the kitchen - that transformed the whole house, giving it a new rhythm and a sense of breath, while maintaining the Masurian character of the place.

The space from the very threshold smoothly leads into the interior of the house - from the outer porch, through the vestibule, up to the kitchen, which has become the main task and the heart of the whole realization.

The kitchen as the heart of the house. A space where tradition meets craftsmanship and contemporary comfort.

The enlargement of the space, the demolition of the vestibule and the introduction of natural light allowed to create a functional place, open and full of breath. The central element of the interior is an oak island with a marble top, made to order, which organizes the rhythm of the room and emphasizes the importance of manual work.

The kitchen is defined by artisanal materials and carefully selected elements: hand-fired tiles from Nakomiad with author's illustrations, a Falcon stove, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and a massive farmer's sink from Villeroy & Boch. Wooden carpentry from Bogulski Studio joins the whole, introducing softness, precision and timeless character.

Living room and dining room where light, wood and art build the calm rhythm of the house.

The dining room has been designed to facilitate meetings — the everyday and the special. In the center stands a Gervasoni table with a set of chairs, surrounded by light from large windows overlooking the garden. The space is decorated with a painting by Michał Zaborowski, created by order of the owners, which brings a note of artistic energy to the interior. The whole thing is warmed by soft curtains from the Szyte Interiors studio and lamps inspired by European crafts.

The living room is designed as a place of rest close to nature. The fireplace in bright limestone, made by the stonemasons Bogulski Studio, marks the central axis of the space and gives it a noble, timeless character.
Soft light falling through large windows, strict ceiling beams and fabrics of natural textures create an atmosphere of silence and harmony. The Gervasoni sofa in a shade of dark beige boucle completes the interior with subtle elegance.

Cozy day area. A television room where everyday life slows down and the house envelops in tranquility.

This part of the house was created for everyday rest — intimate, soft and immersed in natural tones. The walls are finished with wood paneling that brings rustic rhythm and order, and the plaid sofa adds warmth and unforced homeliness to the space.

Soft fur armchairs envelop you with warmth, and light oak upholstery organizes the space and exposes books. It is an interior in which the harmony of materials and light creates an atmosphere of silence, conducive to long conversations and moments for each other.

Bedrooms created with silence in mind. Softness, light and craftsmanship at the service of rest.

The attic bedroom is designed to promote tranquility - natural light, a subtle beige palette and textured plaster create an atmosphere of calm. The bevels accentuate the intimate nature of the room, and the simple, soft bedding brings a touch of rural simplicity.

In the master bedroom, the most important role is played by light - natural, diffused, which reflects off the bleached beams and uneven plasters, bringing out their artisanal character. A simple, elegant wardrobe was created to measure, discreetly organizing the space.

Bathrooms refined in every detail - consistent in character, different in mood

The master bathroom combines natural materials with artisanal precision. A marble top, mosaic stone floor, and custom-made solid wood cabinets create a space with a serene, muted character. The walls are finished with a limestone “lamb”, which introduces a subtle counterpoint to the classic forms.

The guest bathroom was created from the merger of two microscopic rooms, thanks to which it was possible to create a spacious bathing room. In the center stood a freestanding bathtub inspired by English classics. Decorative ceramic paneling is used on the walls, and the floor is laid with English tiles, which give the interior character and delicate elegance.

A house that regained its peace. A space immersed in nature, light and crafts.

In summer, life moves to the terrace, where the focal point is a spectacular chandelier designed by young Polish artists. The house envelops the garden, where old trees and hydrangeas create a fairytale setting, and in the background you can hear only the silence and the singing of birds.

“This project is a tribute to craft and nature — a combination of simplicity, serenity and timeless beauty. A house in Masuria is a place where you can breathe fully and feel the meaning of the word home anew,” says Mateusz Bogulski.
